For Emergency Department

Overall Aim

The overall aim of EpiDOSE is to evaluate the effectiveness of a low cumulative dose of epinephrine compared to a standard cumulative dose of epinephrine on survival to hospital discharge following resuscitation from VF or pulseless VT in adults who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

What Patients Arrive With:

Ontario:

All patients arriving to Emergency Departments in Ontario will arrive with:

  • An Emergency Department fact sheet
  • A patient notification letter
  • An EpiDOSE patient wristband

British Columbia:

Study staff member will approach the patient & family at the bedside for future contact.

All patients arriving to an Emergency Department in Ontario arrive with the following fact sheet, that gives additional information about EpiDOSE trial, and what this means for patients arriving to the ED.

Patient & Family Notification Letter

All patients arriving to an Emergency Department in Ontario should also arrive with a Patient & Family notification letter. This letter informs patients that they have been enrolled in the study, tells them a bit about the study itself, and gives useful info on how to discover more at our website, as well as how to get in touch with a study team member if there are any issues or questions.

Patient Wristbands

All patients arriving to an Emergency Department in Ontario will also arrive with an EpiDOSE wristband as an additional notification that they were enrolled in the study. Please leave this wristband on the patient, unless it interferes with clinical treatment.
